staying healthy and positive in quarantine
A lot has changed in my life with self quarantine, and I have had to make some adjustments. First off, all of the yoga studios and gyms that I work at have temporarily closed their physical doors and have started virtual classes. I have been able to work from home and teach most of my normal classes from home. It has actually been kind of nice. I have more freedom to get things done and do some of the things I love.
I have started a healthy routine that I really hope I can continue after self quarantine is over. I start every morning off making my own matcha latte and then getting a little office work done. I then like to take an epsom salt bath. Epsom salt baths have definitely been one my favorite parts of the day, but they do get expensive. I teach a virtual class at 12 every day and then have a snack and work on the computer a little more. Around 3 or 4pm, I like to go for a long walk and listen to a podcast. When I get back in from my walk, I like to do a yoga or meditation practice if I am not teaching any more virtual classes. I have loved getting in the kitchen for dinner every night and experimenting with new recipes. I love to use pinterest, create my own concoctions, or use Green Chef.
We just starting using Green chef which is a meal delivery service that deliveries 3 recipes with the ingredients to your door. We have been using the plant based meal plan, and every meal has been so creative, delicious, and fun to make. Your first order is only $34, so that's what really got us started on it.
My boyfriend who I live with is also working from home, so that has been a lot of fun getting to spend more quality time together. We have enjoyed just staying in the present moment and getting to slow down. I am so happy that it is Spring time right now. Getting to go outside and be in the sun has been one of the best things about self quarantine.
I have also really enjoyed teaching virtual classes. Usually, when I teach yoga or Pilates I do not do the workout with the class. However, I kind of have to do the workout or yoga when I'm teaching virtually so that everyone knows whats going on. I feel like this has helped me stay in shape and maybe even get a little stronger. You can find my virtual classes through Sumits Yoga, Pike Yoga, Shed Fitness, and Cooper Street yoga. The links to those studio websites are under the yoga tab.
One of the things I look forward to most when self quarantine is over is just going to a restaurant. Even though I thoroughly enjoy cooking, I also love going out to eat twice a week. I've loved going out to eat every since I was a child. Some of my favorite restaurants in Memphis are Ecco, Pete and Sams, Imagine Vegan, Porch and Parlor, Bayou, South of Beale, Bangkok Alley, and City Silo. I keep asking my self which one am I going to go to first?!!!!
